Pensions Actuary/Consultant - London
Main purpose of role is as follows:
Aon are currently seeking a Pensions Actuary and Consultant to join their Consulting team in London. The successful candidate will be working on the largest client in the Aon Consulting London office, helping to generate an income in excess of £3m per annum.In addition, this technical Pensions Actuary and Consultant will be a key relationship owner for a portfolio of smaller clients.Ideally a qualified Pensions Actuary with at least 3 years' pensions experience, coupled with strong technical capability. This should include having a good understanding of Employee Benefits provision as well as having had exposure to service delivery and client management.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Giving actuarial advice to the Trustee Boards of two of the schemes of this FTSE 100 Company.
- Work on the first Scheme Specific Funding valuation for two of the pension schemes of the largest client in the London office;
- Involved in Asset & Liability modelling for these schemes;
- Work on an Executive Scheme that is a top-up Scheme and as such dealing with the interesting complexities that arise as a result of this;
- Checking and signing out high value individual calculations;
- Scheme design work using interesting actuarial concepts allowing for issues like mortality improvements and allowing for changes in legislation like Age Discrimination;
- Work on the different approaches that could be taken to ensure that the Pension Protection Fund levy is maintained at an affordable level for the Company;
- Mergers & Acquisitions work on one of the largest FTSE 100 Companies;
- Work on information for the Company's Accounts including IAS19, IAS24 and Greenbury figures;
- Other interesting one-off projects.
- One of the key relationship owners for this major client.
- Key relationship owner for other smaller clients within your portfolio.
- Management and growth of client income.
- Identification and creation of new sales opportunities within client portfolio.
- Build strong relationships with each client and a full understanding of their business, by meeting and communicating regularly and demonstrating an in-depth understanding of their requirements.
- Conduct an effective client entertainment programme.
- Liaise closely with the Team Leaders and their teams and influence delivery to ensure that client commitments are met.
- Motivate the internal client team, keeping them updated on developments, providing feedback following discussions, and involving others in identifying service improvements where appropriate.
- Opportunity to work with the Client Relationship Director to deliver new clients to the business.
Skills & Experience Required:
Technical:
- Good understanding of Employee Benefits/ occupational pension provision.
- Exposure to service delivery and client management.
- Proven track record to deliver effective client service with agreed budgets.
- At least 3 years relevant industry knowledge and or consulting knowledge coupled with sound technical capability.
- Excellent working knowledge of the current legislation surrounding the industry and forthcoming changes and appreciation of the impact new legislation will have on the industry.
Client Management:
Experience/track record in relationship management and client service delivery.
Financial Awareness:
- Knowledge and understanding of Business Financials.
Qualifications Required:
Degree educated - Mathematics or Business related discipline preferred.
