Production Engineer

My client is currently looking for a Production Engineer to work alongside Design
Engineers on projects to ensure all designs are produced with the most economic and
suitable manufacturing techniques having been considered. Your role will be to organise
the design, specification or procurement of any tooling necessary to facilitate
manufacture and quality control. Whilst ensuring that the structure of the B.O.M. is such
that a smooth transition occurs from concept through to purchasing and eventually kitting
and assembly.

* To produce and maintain standard or rework routings / methods for all parts that have a manufacturing / assembly element.
* Approve drawings to ensure they contain enough information to facilitate manufacture / assembly.
* Establish lead times for assemblies on MRP that are consistent with timely stocking (JIT) of material and customer delivery requirements.
* Produce adequate process control documents where necessary.
* Develop 'partnership' relationships with key vendors in order to encourage concurrent / simultaneous engineering practices at all levels of manufacture.
* Provide support to operations and sub-contract suppliers by providing a timely response to any queries that arise from drawings or processes.

Attributes/Skills Required/Sought:
* Good interpersonal and communication skills required at all levels.
* 2D CAD literate.
* A practical aptitude with a hands on capability.
* Ability to work as a member of a team on projects.
* Good problem solving skills using practical and analytical techniques.
* Ability and drive to work to and achieve deadlines. Manages own workload and anticipates issues and completes tasks with minimal supervision.

Experience:
* Experience of production engineering aspects of electro mechanical products preferably in the aerospace / defence industries. Company products include engine cooling systems, vapour cycle air conditioning, NBC filtration products and fan / motors / heater products.
* Experience of sheet metal fabrication, casting and machining techniques.
* Knowledge of MRP / production control systems in a batch production environment.
* Experience of lean manufacturing methods / techniques.

Education Required/Sought:
* HND / Degree plus five + years of relevant experience.

Salary: Upto £35,000 plus benefits.
