Wanted - a canny, ex-Site Manager to come in from the cold to recruit, train and organise Site Managers, in order to provide a best-in-class site management service for high-value, electrical, mechanical and civil engineering construction sites, both in the UK and worldwide!
LOCATION
The Site Operations Manager could conveniently live in or near to Birmingham, Burton-on-Trent, Derby, Lichfield, Macclesfield, Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent, Telford, Warrington, Wolverhampton.
Where required, generous relocation assistance is available.
DURATION
The Site Operations Manager is a permanent post.
SALARY
The Site Operations Manager commands a base salary in the range £40 - 50k, possibly higher, depending on competence, plus bonus, car/car allowance and big company benefits.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
The Site Operations Manager should be able to demonstrate: -
* An engineering qualification, preferably electrical, civil or mechanical.
* A recognised health & safety qualification, preferably NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate, or at least IOSH Managing Safely certificate, or the equivalent.
* A good understanding of the safety, health, environmental, security and quality issues and procedures associated with high voltage electricity substations.
* Hands-on experience of managing construction sites, preferably in more than one country.
* A good understanding of the full project cycle with respect to construction site activity, including estimating, cost-control, planning, procurement, installation, commissioning and close-out.
* Excellent spoken and written English, coupled with good communication skills and the ability to robustly, but diplomatically, manage Customers, Partners, Subcontractors and Employees.
* Ability to travel worldwide; additional languages and/or experience of working in a variety of ethnic cultures would be an advantage.

ROLE
Reporting to the Operations Director, and liaising with the providers of site resources, the Site Operations Manager ensures that the construction phases of the Company's projects are delivered safely, on-time and within budget. Key responsibilities include: -
* Selection and approval of site and commissioning managers, site supervisors and commissioning engineers.
* Induction and training of the above staff, and control of their site facilities, purchases, time-sheets and expenses.
* Ensuring that procedures and documentation associated with site activities are in place and maintained.
* Ensuring that the peculiarities of individual work sites and their locations are understood and professionally managed, to the satisfaction of the Customer and the Company.
* Planning, costing and organising of site resources, over a continuously changing programme of tenders and active work sites.
* Representing, and reporting on, the site activities, in internal and external forums.
* Where appropriate, visiting work sites anywhere in the world.
