Position: Finance Analyst (Precious Metal Management)
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £18-22k

COMPANY:
Our client, part of a FTSE 250 group, is a leading supplier of fabricated precious metals, (primarily gold, silver and platinum) to the jewellery industry mainly in the US, UK, France and Spain. Products include alloy materials, semi-finished jewellery components, jeweller's tools and equipment plus finished jewellery.

ROLE:
The Business Intelligence Team provides essential market, customer and banking data to allow the business to be effectively managed. As part of this team, the Finance Analyst (Precious Metal Management) is a high profile position that will have the opportunity to make a real contribution to developing and implementing best practice processes. There will be multinational exposure both in terms of servicing customers and complying with banking regulations in relation to preparing and processing precious metal transactions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) To be an integral part of the Business Intelligence Team that provides the highest standards of professional support to both management and operations.
b) To gain a comprehensive understanding of precious metal controls and contribute proactively to the profitable management of this commodity.
c) Fully understand the business banking covenants along with the pricing and payments / receipts processes.
d) Process precious metal transfers between customers, other group companies, suppliers and banks in an accurate and timely manner.
e) Verify balances accurately reflect the current trading position.
f) Process and control refining batches to accurately reflect metal resources at external sites and that refining asset recovery is managed along side real time financial constraint pressures upon the business.
g) Prepare reports to highlight areas & issues of concern to enable management to control and protect the profitability of the business.
h) Identify appropriate items for reconciliation and ensure these are actioned for inter-company, customer, supplier and bank metal accounts.
i) Liaise with banks and other suppliers for delivery of bullion products.
j) Reconcile the results of stock takes and progress excess / shortages of metal.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
a) AAT (or equivalent) qualified.
b) Accounting Knowledge with a good working knowledge of Ledgers.
c) Good working knowledge of stock control systems.
d) Experience of reconciliation, both stock and financial.
e) Experience of dealing with Bank payments and reconciliations.
f) Experience of Financial report writing.
g) Good Communicator, ability to liaise with people at all levels internally and externally.
h) Able to work outside normal hours as requested.

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
a) Knowledge of Navision and AS400 systems.
b) Experience of commodity / bullion dealing.
c) Advanced Excel skills (pivot table, lookups).

d) Part qualified business accountant.
e) An understanding of international bank payment systems.
