What are social network settings?
Answer
Jobsite's social network settings enable you to enrich your My Jobsite profile, by linking to your pages on social networking sites. For example, you can link your Jobsite profile to your professional account on LinkedIn and to your profile on Twitter.
Once you've created your links, you can choose to add them to individual job applications that you make on Jobsite – you'll see the 'social network links' option on the application form. You can also choose whether to make them visible to employers viewing your Jobsite profile.
To add social network settings to your My Jobsite profile:
- Create your new My Jobsite profile by registering with Jobsite or simply log in if you've already registered with Jobsite
- Once you've logged in, you'll be shown your My Jobsite page
- Click on the 'my status' tab and you'll see the 'Social network settings' box
- Click the links to the site you'd like to connect to your Jobsite profile
- On the next page, type the full URL of your social network profile
- LinkedIn – log in and you can view your unique URL on your profile page, e.g. http://uk.linkedin.com/pub/firstname-lastname
- Twitter – your unique URL will begin with http://twitter.com/, with your username at the end, e.g. http://twitter.com/yourname
- Remember: it is your choice which social networking site you link to your Jobsite account and applications. If for example, your Twitter page isn’t suitable for sharing with a potential employer, you don’t have to link to it
- After typing in each unique URL, click 'Test this link' to make sure the link works correctly
- Use the options below each box to make your social network links available for recruiters to see – or keep them hidden, so they are only available for you to use on your job applications
- Once you're happy, click 'Save changes' to confirm that you want to save your updates
Adding social network links to your Jobsite applications:
- When you apply for a job on Jobsite, you'll notice the new section at the bottom of the application form, called 'adding social network links'
- Simply select which of your social network profiles you'd like to link to your application by ticking the 'use with this application' boxes
- Simply log in to Jobsite
- Once you've logged in, you'll be shown your My Jobsite page
- Click on the 'my status' tab and you'll see the 'Social network settings' box
- Click on the 'Add or update your social network settings' link
- Delete your social network links from the white boxes
- If you wish to update your social network links, type in the new URLs and use the options below each box to make your social network links available for recruiters to see – or keep them hidden, so they are only available for you to use on your job applications
- Once you're happy, click 'Save changes' to confirm that you want to save your updates
