I work in the Design department of a large pharmacuetical company in the South as packaging designer. I’ve been doing the job for a couple of years and have gradually been working my way up in terms of responsibility. Because I’ve been keen to progress and make management I’ve been accepting all work that comes in regardless of my current workload. The problem is I am now working all hours available to get the work done. I don’t want to appear as if I’m not good enough to advance in the company. What should I do?

I’ve been working as a campaign executive for a large bank for just over two years and I’ve been looking for a manager level job in the same field. I’ve got a couple of offers but I haven’t made my mind up yet…To confuse things, an old work colleague has told me he is setting up an agency and wants me to join him as a partner. I’m really torn between the two. It sounds exciting to have my own company but it also scares the hell out of me! I’ve never done anything like this before and don’t know if I should risk it or stick to the more safe option of working for a big company. Any suggestions?

I am now thirty two years old and I have been working in factory as a packer. However, I decided to change my career pathway and enrolled at a college studying computerised accounting on part-time basis.
My problem is since I started applying for jobs that are accounts related I am being told that they want someone with experience.Accounting employment agencies just register me but they do not promise me anything. How can I get experience?
I am completing my studies in January 2005 and I will obtain an International Association of Bookkeepers (I.A.B.) qualification.
