We’re only a few days into 2012 and already our diary is filling up with some really interesting events. This could well be the year of the conference as Recruitment, HR and Social Media combine in ever evolving ways to bring the best of current practice and thinking to wider audiences.
At Jobsite we are looking forward to these events – sponsoring and supporting as many as we can -and will bring the key learnings to you though this blog and our @JobsiteUK twitter stream.
In our last blog we announced our on-going sponsorship of the Tru Unconference series, but even before TruLondon5 in February there are four events in January that we are keenly anticipating!
Growing SME Recruitment Businesses
We are joint sponsors at this one day conference which has been organised by leading recruitment industry publication Recruitment International, and is aimed at directors and owners of SME recruitment businesses. It takes place in London on 17th January.
The day will cover many topics that are vital to these businesses, including financial management, technology, staff retention, brand building and negotiation. There will also be a session on the way that social media is impacting the industry (delivered by Jobsite!) and ample networking opportunities. We’re pleased to announce that we will be continuing our Platinum sponsorship of the Tru series of recruiting unconferences into 2012 – starting with TruLondon 5 on February 22nd & 23rd!
The last Tru event – TruLondon4 in September 2011 – attracted delegates from 14 countries across 4 continents and sparked some fiery and inspiring discussions around recruitment, branding, HR and technology. You can read about some of the highlights here!
Our ongoing sponsorship of the Tru events has enabled us to bring fresh and vibrant debate to a global audience, as well as offering more opportunity for networking, learning and debating, and we are sure that TruLondon5 will be no exception.
If you’ve never been to an unconference before then now is surely the time to start! There is no PowerPoint, presenting or pitching, just conversations and knowledge exchange. Sessions take the form of small discussion groups, or tracks, where the leader (usually with an expertise or specialist knowledge in the subject, or with a case study to share) is there to start the conversation and keep it flowing. There’s no standing on ceremony either! Two or three tracks will usually be running simultaneously and as an attendee you are free to get up and move between them.
So make sure you put 22nd & 23rd February in your diaries…and keep an eye on this blog. We’ll be launching our dedicated event page, with booking details, very shortly…and you’ll read about it first here!

Jobsite, one of the UK’s leading recruitment sites has teamed up with Portsmouth Football Club to offer a life changing CV-optimising opportunity to 18-22 year olds, culminating in a chance to visit Africa where they will be providing skills and support to develop youngsters and face up to the many challenges of growing up in communities plagued with poverty and hardship.
The initiative, named ‘Beyond Blue’ is a group community project designed to help improve employment opportunities and prepare futures of young people in the competitive job market that awaits them after education. It is another progressive project developed through Jobsite’s main club sponsorship of Portsmouth FC, along with local youth volunteer service Community Fusion and international volunteering and development charity Coaching For Hope.
The Beyond Blue project builds on the highly successful Premier League Into Work Scheme piloted by PFC and Jobsite back in 2009, the continuing scheme has so far resulted in an outstanding 62% of participants getting back into work.

A few weeks ago we wrote about our sponsorship of the UK Recruiter Blog of the Year. It’s an annual competition that aims to recognise the top blogs by active recruiters (agency and inhouse) – nominations are made by readers and provided they meet the entry criteria then they are assessed by a judging panel against the criteria of:
- Quality of writing (is it interesting/engaging, no typos, ids there a call to action etc)
- Volume of posts
- Blog design (descriptive name, picture of the blogger, easy navigation)
- Post content (is there a mix of text, images and video)
- About the blogger page (contact details, links to facebook, LinkedIn, Twiiter to enable readers to interact with the writer)
The panel made its deliberations earlier this week…and we have not one but TWO winners!
The overall winner of Recruitment Blog of 2011 – and recipient of the Jobsite Trophy – is…

A big thank you to all of you who have been leaving feedback for recruiters on the experience you’ve had while job hunting. Your responses enable us to record and reward the top recruitment agencies on Jobsite, who are giving you guys the best customer service.
At Jobsite we believe that job hunting should be as simple and easy as possible, everything we do and have built has been with that goal in mind; to take the frustration out of finding the right job. Some time ago, we asked you how the job hunting process made you feel and you said that the biggest annoyance was the lack of response from recruitment agencies. Your comments about the importance of agencies offering good customer service prompted us to do something about it. So we launched Jobsite’s RecruitRank to encourage and reward the agencies who are offering job seekers a great experience.
How do I leave feedback for recruiters?
Through your MyJobsite page you can feedback anonymously to recruitment agencies on the service you have received after applying for a job. We also send you a reminder email 2 weeks after you apply for a job.
Do recruiters listen?
The feedback is completely anonymous, but recruiters can respond to comments you leave. The anonymous conversation will hopefully lead to any issues being resolved. Your comments also enable recruiters to monitor and, if necessary, improve their service offering to job seekers.
Who are the top recruitment agencies in 2011?
Each year we also hold a RecruitRank Awards evening, celebrating the top recruitment agencies in the UK – as voted for by you (rather than a panel of judges). The award categories are based on the responses to the questions we ask you. With several thousand recruitment consultancies eligible for inclusion in the RecruitRank Awards, these winners stand out as examples of best practice in the area of customer service, so a big congrats to all the winning recruitment agencies: Continue reading “Thank you for telling us what you think” »
