Recruiting and employing people from outside the UK may have become an important part of life for some major organisations but has never been as challenging as it is today.
The process is complex and we are aware that companies seek advice on a regular basis, so we are supporting a
forthcoming Recruitment Society event – Working with the UK Border Agency.
It’s an informal lunch gathering at which there will be a detailed legal update on employing non-UK citizens, new legislation, compliance visits, licence holder responsibilities and reporting requirements, followed by a case study from a leading High Street retail group including the complexities of obtaining a sponsorship licence and living through a Border Agency audit.
As ever, we will be taking notes and meeting the speakers, with the aim of bringing you some of our key learnings.
It takes place in Birmingham on 6th April and if you would like to come along there are still places available. Ticket details on the Recruitment Society website
This week we are getting excited about TruLondon. Jobsite will be platinum sponsors of the three day unconference. This is the third time that we have been the platinum sponsors of the TruConferences and we are looking forward to getting stuck in again. It will
bring together some of the leading names in Recruitment, HR and Technology from the UK, US, Australia and Europe for three days of discussion, debate and no doubt some disagreement! At the end of it though, we are sure that there will be some very useful advice and guidance for job seekers and hiring companies.
Not sure what an unconference is?
It is almost the opposite of a traditional conference, with 3 principles:
1) No PowerPoint
2) No presentations
3) No name badges
There is no central auditorium with attendees sitting in rows listening. Instead the day is arranged into a number of small discussion groups (usually with 3 or 4 going on at the same time) covering a wide range of topics. As Bill Boorman (founder of TruConferences, of which TruLondon is one of a number of global events) says,
“An unconference is a gathering of minds, experiences and opinions where the attendees (or active participants) lead the conversation. We don’t have Powerpoint presentations because we want the eyes to meet in the middle and everyone to have the floor. Each track (session), has leaders with a background in the topic, but their job is to start the conversation. No name badges because we believe that if you don’t know who someone is you should introduce yourself and start talking.”

19 August 2010 – Jobsite are proud to announce the headline sponsorship of three key recruitment events this Autumn; truManchester, the Onrec Exhibition & Conference, and the Mobile & Video in Recruitment Conference.

This extensive sponsorship programme is a key part of Jobsite’s continued activity to raise brand awareness and invest in looking at effective recruitment practises, both now and in the future.
The first event, truManchester takes place on the 8th & 9th September in Central Manchester. It’s unique ‘unconference’ format moves away from traditional presentations and speakers, and instead offers an open discussion amongst delegates; with a focus on social media, branding, mobile and the future of recruitment. This follows on from the successful Jobsite-sponsored truLondon earlier this year.

Well what a week for Jobsite! Let’s start with the facts.
Best Job Board – FACT, Recruitment International 5-a-side Champions – FACT.
The success started on Thursday when Jobsite won the “Best Job Board” award at the first ever Recruitment Consultant Awards. The award was for the job board that was the most user-friendly and well-designed for job seekers, has added functionality and dares to stand out from the crowd. We were up against stiff competition, so were very proud to bring the award back to Hampshire to be placed on the Jobsite mantelpiece.
It is truly a fantastic award for Jobsite as it recognises that we help to make job hunting quick & easy and is proof that we are seen as an innovative job board that stands out from our competitors. It also demonstrates that Jobsite is performing for candidates, which is a major factor in helping recruiters decide which job board to use.
Whilst we are on the subject of performance, Team Jobsite was invited to partake in the Recruitment International 5-a-side at Goals in Wimbledon yesterday. Over 30 teams were invited to play but there would only be one winner.

Winning an award against UK brands is very cool but being selected as the best when you’re against leading international brands is even better: Our mobile ad campaign has just won a Mobile Merit Award, which recognises excellence across the global mobile industry. To give you an idea of the scale of these awards, Nokia, Kodak and NBC also entered.
Together with our mobile agency, Yodel Digital, we entered the Jobsite mobile campaign, that ran at the beginning of this year, to scoop Best Brand Agency in the Mobile Marketing category.
We knew the campaign had been incredibly successful, delivering a 427% increase in traffic to the Jobsite mobile site, but to be selected by a panel of leading mobile industry executives, media and consultants is the ultimate kudos. The award wasn’t just based on overall success either but also on innovation, impact on the industry and social importance.
