Creating New Opportunities for Recruitment Innovation

Ever since our early days as a family start up, we’ve had big ambitions. Why not aim for the sky?!

Since 1995, we’ve worked hard to provide intelligent recruitment services that make finding jobs easier and less hassle. Along the way, we’ve looked for opportunities to grow the business. And now we support a network of over 30 niche job boards and more than 500 regional websites across the UK.

But we’re not finished yet. Which is why today is so exciting.

This morning our founder Keith Potts announced the launch of Evenbase, a digital recruitment group focused on improving how companies find candidates and how candidates find work in both domestic and international markets.

As an Evenbase company, we – and in turn our clients and partners – benefit from the innovation and expertise that spans 55 countries, includes a network of 60 sites, and employs more than 330 people. Not to mention flagship brands such as CityJobs, Oilcareers and Broadbean.

Which is all very impressive, but you’re probably wondering what this means for clients and jobseekers… Rest assured, day to day Jobsite services and solutions will remain unchanged. And we look forward to sharing the synergies and opportunities generated by Evenbase with you in the future.

More Max – Our new TV ads

It’s only a few days before our return to TV. In advance of this we wanted to share with you the 2 new ads that we’ll be showing and give you some more details of the programmes you’ll be seeing these ads around.

For the first week of the campaign we’ll be showing the two 30 second ads that ran in January to build familiarity with people again. From week two we’ll introduce a new 30 second advert (see below), which questions why people spend hours moaning about their jobs when it only takes 10 minutes to upload their CV to Jobsite. This will run alongside the two 10 second TV adverts that were on air in January.

From the 17th October a new 10 second advert will be added to the mix (see below), which asks whether you’re happy or envious when a colleague announces they’re leaving for a new job. It’s a favourite with many of the team here and is the theme of the new print advert which will run in national and regional newspapers from October. Continue reading “More Max – Our new TV ads” »

Jobsite returns to TV in October

October is the month when Autumn generally really starts to set in. As the evenings get darker earlier and the temperature falls, the best place to be is often curled up in front of the TV. This makes it an ideal time to advertise via this media and from Monday 3rd October to Sunday 30th October, that’s exactly what we’ll be doing!

Where we’ll be advertising

You’ll be able to see our ads across both terrestrial and satellite channels around popular programmes such as X Factor, Coronation Street, World Cup Rugby and Champions League football. In fact, during the four weeks that our ads are showing, over 39 million adults will see them an average of 5 times. Pretty amazing!

Previous success

We’ll be running the four adverts that were on TV in January as well as introducing two new ones. We know that the ads we showed back in January went down well as they resulted in:

  • The highest number of applications we’d ever seen in a day
  • Record breaking numbers of visitors in a day
  • A place at number 6 in Marketing Magazine’s weekly Adwatch table of most remembered adverts, alongside brands like Tesco, Gillette and PG Tips

The Jobsite and O2 Partnership Explained

We couldn’t have been happier than when the ink dried on the contracts confirming our exclusive partnership with O2. We knew it would make job seeking easier for their customers and would help us reach more relevant candidates for our clients.

Here we explain a little more about what’s involved in the partnership and how it can benefit you.

What is it?

Jobsite have signed up to an exclusive 12 month partnership with O2.

The cornerstone of this partnership is the Jobsite branded Careers section on O2 Active (O2’s mobile site). Take a look on your phone, it’s available on all networks: http://wap.o2.co.uk/careers.

As you’ll see, it features advice and tips on areas such as CVs, interviews and what employers are looking for, with new content being added every 2 weeks. The Careers section also includes links to our mobile site, Jobs-by-Twitter service (JobsiteJobs) and app download pages, to make finding a new job as quick and easy as possible. In the coming months this section will also feature a salary checker tool, which we know will be a popular addition!

O2 are heavily promoting the new Careers section to their customers via banners and links on the O2 Active homepage and will continue to do so throughout the partnership.

In addition to the Careers section, the partnership includes SMS/MMS messages to O2 customers, behavioural targeting (e.g. by location, salary, sector etc) and regular in-depth research. Continue reading “The Jobsite and O2 Partnership Explained” »

Evaluating the success of TV

Launching a new TV advertising campaign is without doubt exciting but once it’s successfully gone live there’s no time to put your feet up as then the work begins on evaluating its effectiveness.

The first thing we look at is website traffic and activity, as this data is easy to access and shows us quickly whether our TV ads are driving action. For the January campaign (10th January-6th February) we saw:

  • 4.95 million visits – 12% up on our January 2010 TV campaign
  • 1.12 million applications to Jobsite vacancies – 9% up on our January 2010 TV campaign
  • 173,900 new searchable CVs added to our database, taking it to just under 2 million
  • 144,000 registrations – 5% up on our January 2010 TV campaign
  • The highest number of daily applications ever (51,922)
  • Record breaking numbers of visitors in a day (182,757)

To provide a valid comparison you need to think about what you benchmark the data against. If you look at it versus December then it’s going to appear even more successful as December is naturally a quiet job seeking month. Having done TV advertising in January 2010 this allows us to do a like for like comparison and see clearly how the new campaign is performing.

You also need to bear in mind the wider climate as in January 2010 there were higher numbers of people looking for work as a result of the recession and redundancy. Whilst there are still people being affected by this now there is certainly more confidence and people choosing to leave one job to go to another.
