Communication is a Gift That Comes in Many Forms
We continue our countdown to TruLondon5 with a guest blog from Bryan Wempen, one of the visiting track leaders from the US. Bryan is Chief Strategy Officer for behavioral assessment business People Clues and also hosts a daily blog talk radio show in the US called Drive Thru HR. Here he previews his track on Social Influence Blueprint…
“Communication is one of the gifts that come in all forms. I see it every single day and am the first to admit that I take for granted the many ways that I’m able communicate with friends, family, partners, acquaintances’, etc. Social communication opens up so many positive and negative opportunities that can be impactful to someone personally and professionally. People, the world is big, bigger and continuing to innovate in many ways so embrace the new normal! So many variables, so little time in the day to pause and reflect more strategically about what their blueprint is currently as well what they want it to be in the future. Has the mapping of how we think and interact changed that much from the classics?

I will be presenting at TruLondon5 on what a “Social Influence Blueprint” looks, sounds, smells and acts like. What are it’s characteristics?
I’ll be joined in my track by Nigel Newman, MD of People Clues UK. Our definition of “Social Influence Blueprint” is a roadmap of how, who and why you’re influencing or would like to influence people in your ecosystem of friends, family, thought-leaders, peers and competitors. We will be challenging the status quo of current thinking as well supporting some of the momentum of “named” thought-leaders who have a mission and yes we will be bringing names, examples and tools to help you think about the approach on your strategy.
Influence comes from something that truly isn’t that mysterious or complex; influence is based on trust. This is trust in other human beings acting and responding in a certain way that is expected or predictive within a certain margin of plus or minus 10%. This trust variable is supported by a system often referred to as a community that will offer a waterline of interest, innovation and relevance to which most in the system vest fairly quickly, fade away or run the hell the other way. I review and reflect over my relationships and often apologize about not delivering on as much as I commit, not be excited for good things that happen to friends and family but I do the best I can each day. Be sure you call me on my not delivering on my promises so I either quit committing to things I won’t deliver or get off my ass and do the right thing and deliver as promised.
Easy formula (conscientiousness + resilience + honesty = trust +/- 10%) x creativity = influence
All this is based on my always colorful lens and humble musings. See you at TruLondon, Thanks!”
There are still a very small number of tickets available. If you want to come along and participate in Bryan’s track then you can still book tickets through our dedicated TruLondon event site.
