Age Is Just A Number
Having worked in the Middle East for (too) many years, in a senior position and having (according to others) an impressive CV, my question is just how to get UK employers interested in me. The age is obviously a barrier as its reasonably apparent that ‘ no one wants to know you when you are old’ ie 60.
How does one persuade potential employers that age, experience and knowledge tend to go together. Face to face it may be very possible, but interviews never turn up because recuiters seem to have a built in ‘age filter’. It’s very demoralising to be written off without a chance to make ones case.

I’m often asked how and why we started to take a hugely successful multi-sector job board and introduce a niche strategy into this fold. Well it all really started one year after the launch of Jobsite (1995) when we launched a separate job board for Engineering which went on to become Engineerboard.co.uk. In those early days there were mainly only IT and Engineering people on the internet and it seemed sensible to provide a route to Jobs specifically for those audiences, rather than forcing them to use the same Job board as each other. The strategy worked very well indeed.

Quick Hit Business Tips
I have just joined a new company in a business development role – and whilst I am getting some success with some of my previous client contacts. I am struggling to open enough new doors with other clients. I know there isnt a magic solution, but just wondered if anyone else has some general tips – I network with candidates and client contacts and research recruitment trends via the internet – does anybody else have other useful ideas to generate some “quick hit” business
