Career Spotlight: Recruitment Consultant

If you fancy a career change, recruitment might be the industry to go for. It certainly worked for Paul Yarham, who is now an account manager for one of the UK’s top technology recruiters, Elan Computing.

How did you start in recruitment?

I originally trained and worked as an electrical engineer. Then, in 1997, an opportunity came up locally when a new IT recruitment consultancy moved to the area. It was just before the big IT boom of 2000 and they were looking to take on lots of people. I thought I’d give it a go and made the switch. Career Workshop: Choosing a Course Provider

What should you look for when deciding how to study for a new qualification, asks Glenn who is looking to retrain to make himself more employable. Tanya Charlton from Home Learning College explains.

Question:

“I was made redundant from work approximately 9 months ago and have struggled to find work since. I would like to know what’s the quickest way to become an accounting technician with the hopeful end goal of becoming a qualified accountant. However, it would not be financially viable to complete more than a maximum of one year’s full-time study. Ideally part-time or night classes would be preferable. If you could forward me some sound advice as to which courses would be the best way to achieve this, I would much appreciate it.”

Pompey’s new chairman Sulaiman Al Fahim holds up the new Pompey shirt.

Despite being more of an F1 fan than a football supporter, this new deal is one of the most important sponsorship decisions that we’ve ever made at Jobsite. It’s great for our candidate reach and great for our clients.

First impressions
I must admit that when we were first approached, I thought the only real benefit of sponsoring a club would be having your logo on the shirts but I was bowled over by the scope of the package. As main club sponsor we get extensive branding – at the stadium, across the Pompey website, on programmes, on tickets, across official club merchandise. You name it and Jobsite will appear on it! There is also so much more, for example corporate hospitality for our clients, use of the club facilities, becoming Pompey’s official recruitment partner, advertising, events and the opportunity to work with other Pompey affiliated brands.
