Should I hire a career coach?

If the New Year has thrown up some searching questions about your career, now’s the time to act on them by talking to a career coach. Here’s why…

The New Year can bring about some searching questions – am I happy at work? Am I in the right company? Am I doing the right job? Often these questions circulate for a few weeks and then we get back into our working routines and try to forget that we ever had these niggles. But surely, those doubts are there for a reason, aren’t they? This year, rather than letting daily life take over again, why not act on those initial thoughts and make sure once and for all that you are making the right career choices for you.Denise Taylor - Career Coach

One of the best ways to go about answering these questions is to work with a career coach. If this is something you have always put off before, let 2011 be the year you take action. While a career coach will not give you all the answers they will certainly help you work out if there are any changes that you need to make to your working life. If you’re still unsure, Chartered Psychologist and Registered Guidance Practitioner Denise Taylor from amazingpeople.co.uk has come up with eight good reasons why you should hire a career coach:

1. To help you understand who you are

The more you know yourself, the easier it is to choose a career that suits the person you are and contributes to the life you want to have.

2. To understand your natural talents and strengths

Rather than focusing purely on skills and what you have learnt to do, you should explore your underlying, natural talents. The more you use these, the greater the chance of personal fulfilment at work. Continue reading “Should I hire a career coach?” »

HR Careers and Nationwide Recruitment Service Testimonial

I use Jobsite to enable me to advertise job vacancies for our recruitment companies HR Careers and Nationwide Recruitment Service. We have advertised a variety of national jobs at various levels, with a great success rate.

The service I have received has always been professional, courteous and responsive. I can highly recommend my Jobsite account manager, who has gone above and beyond the call of duty… she is always on hand and I have to say one of the best sales and customer service people I have ever dealt with. I continue to receive fabulous customer care and advice on advertising, which has proved fruitful.

I have recommended Jobsite, InHR and my account manager to many of my colleges and fellow directors of recruitment firms and local business. Well done Jobsite!

I now feel more confident about going to interviews…

I am a job seeker in Australia and have just come across your website. I have to say, it is the most conducive website I have ever used!

I was initially looking for examples for interview questions and answering selection criteria and I found your website while I was randomly searching.

I really enjoyed the Killer Questions section, especially being able to get an explanation as to what employers are looking for between the lines of their questions.

There are so many options in the career tools section that I have found most helpful and I am really impressed with how easy it is navigate (no dead links!)

I am now feeling more confident about going to interviews and what to expect from recruiters.

Thank you so much!

5 tips for choosing the right study option

Personal information managementGaining a new qualification can be one of the most effective ways of enhancing your career, whether by increasing your chances of promotion or by equipping you to move into an entirely new line of work…

If you are spending good money to continue your education then it’s essential that the end result is worth the time and expense. The following questions from our training provider Home Learning College will help you find the right course through a respected training provider and gain the most out of your studies.

1) Academic or vocational?

One of the first considerations is whether to choose an academic or a vocational course. Broadly speaking, academic qualifications – such as bachelors and postgraduate degrees – focus on theories and concepts, whereas vocational courses teach practical skills relating to a specific profession. As a result, a vocational qualification is likely to have a more immediate effect on your job prospects. In fact, in many industry sectors, such as accounting or IT, there is a clear vocational learning pathway that must be followed in order to secure certain roles.
