Increasing numbers of us now get our fix of news and views from reading blogs. Whether we want to know more about workplace developments and recruiting, or follow opinions of bloggers who offer insights into our favourite hobbies and passions, the blog is now seen as one of the most important ways of keeping up to date and in the know.
Here at Insider we try to bring you information on some of the leading trends in recruitment, talent acquisition and HR, together with career and job hunting tips and also to let you know about other writers whose output you should be reading.
It is not always easy to find a list of all the bloggers that you need to follow so as a starting point we recommend this new blog from respected US business coach and commentator Evan Carmichael who lists the Top 50 Human Resources Blogs that you should be reading in 2011. Your appearance counts for everything in the business world, sending messages out to your colleagues, peers and bosses about the sort of employee you are.  That’s why it’s so important to get it right. However, when it comes to summer dressing, the rules are slightly more relaxed – we’re not talking vest tops and hot pants, just a softening of what is usually expected the rest of the year. Undoubtedly one of the summer’s blockbuster films will be Horrible Bosses. The tale of three friends seeking revenge on slave-driving, egotistical bosses who regularly manipulate, humiliate and undermine them provides some dark comic moments (some of us have already seen it!) and will probably also make most of us thankful for the real life bosses we have!
Fictional bosses are always the worst – rich, arrogant, sleazy, sadistic, they come in all shapes and sizes – so we decided to round up the ones that make us cringe the most!
There were many to consider. Scrooge (though he did eventually see the error of his ways), David Brent (cringingly bad, but more through incompetence than nastiness) there were also some votes for Daniel Cleaver, though we’re not so sure Hugh Grant can really do nasty!
Here we countdown our final 6 of the most Horrible Bosses: Continue reading “Our 6 Most Horrible Bosses” »
