Jobsite Sponsors TruLondon5!

We’re pleased to announce that we will be continuing our Platinum sponsorship of the Tru series of recruiting unconferences into 2012 – starting with TruLondon 5 on February 22nd & 23rd!

The last Tru event – TruLondon4 in September 2011 – attracted delegates from 14 countries across 4 continents and sparked some fiery and inspiring discussions around recruitment, branding, HR and technology. You can read about some of the highlights here!

Our ongoing sponsorship of the Tru events has enabled us to bring fresh and vibrant debate to a global audience, as well as offering more opportunity for networking, learning and debating, and we are sure that TruLondon5 will be no exception.

If you’ve never been to an unconference before then now is surely the time to start! There is no PowerPoint, presenting or pitching, just conversations and knowledge exchange. Sessions take the form of small discussion groups, or tracks, where the leader (usually with an expertise or specialist knowledge in the subject, or with a case study to share) is there to start the conversation and keep it flowing. There’s no standing on ceremony either! Two or three tracks will usually be running simultaneously and as an attendee you are free to get up and move between them.

So make sure you put 22nd & 23rd February in your diaries…and keep an eye on this blog. We’ll be launching our dedicated event page, with booking details, very shortly…and you’ll read about it first here!

Jobsite reaches New Year job hunters with multimedia advertising campaign

05 January 2012 – Jobsite returns to TV on Monday 9th January in a high impact nationwide campaign, which will run for 4 weeks across over 200 terrestrial and satellite channels as part of their continued commitment to reach the relevant candidates for their clients, wherever they are.

To maximise both the number of people that they reach with their campaign and the frequency that these people see the ads, Jobsite will again be running a combination of 30 and 10 second TV adverts around a diverse range of programmes. This, alongside the significant budget they invest, means that during the four weeks, they’ll reach 82.5% of the UK working population, with each individual seeing the ads an average of over 6 times.

When the new campaign was first run on TV in January 2011 it generated record breaking results, with both the highest number of visitors and highest number of applications in a day. TV has also been responsible for helping to increase Jobsite’s searchable CV database from 500,000 in September 2008 (pre TV) to 2.7million today.

The TV advertising is supported by extensive online activity including upweighted search engine marketing to ensure Jobsite is prominent for all types of job searches, a venture into pre-targeting banners to reach people who have never visited Jobsite, social media campaigns, display banners across leading UK sites, email activity and the highly effective dynamic display retargeting ads. There is also heavy presence on mobile through Jobsite’s partnership with O2 and increased spend on mobile PPC. Jobsite’s continued print advertising across national and regional titles, including the Metro and Daily Mail, and main club sponsorship of Portsmouth Football Club further complement the TV advertising to ensure they are highly visible to potential job seekers throughout the day in many different forms. 5 Common Mistakes Jobseekers Make During Online Tests

There are many people currently searching for employment, so having the right skills to fit your perfect job is vital. Not only this, but jobseekers must have the skills required to pass the recruitment process. A key part of this process is online testing, which is becoming increasingly difficult.

We asked The Test Factory, a provider of bespoke online assessments, which are the five easily avoidable mistakes jobseekers make when completing online tests :

Skim Reading

One common mistake that jobseekers make is to skim the online recruitment test quickly instead of taking the time to read through the questions slowly and digest all of the information. In doing this, it is easy to make mistakes and choose incorrect answers, or misread the information on screen. It sounds obvious but in the panic of completing an online test it is easy to rush. To avoid this there is one simple solution. Slow down your reading pace by reading the words on screen out loud. Another way to avoid misreading information is to write down each question on a notepad to make sure the meaning is understood.

Careless Spelling

Some jobseekers don’t spend enough time thoroughly checking the correct spelling of the words typed into their online tests. This is a huge mistake as any potential employer will think the applicant doesn’t pay attention to details. To avoid making spelling errors, don’t rely on the test to recognise any mistakes and check the dictionary. Read through your answers carefully, paying close attention to every word. Reading out words as they are typed can also help with spelling. Continue reading “5 Common Mistakes Jobseekers Make During Online Tests” »

Talk to everyone! It could make the difference in a job interview!

For many, interview success can often depend on the personal touches and using small things to stand out.

Here career coach Steve Nicholls gives us some examples.

“Prepared for that upcoming job interview? Suit pressed, shoes shined, answers rehearsed? While I am a massive advocate of properly rehearsing the answers to potential interview questions (there really is no excuse these days not to have prepared in this way), I would urge you to take into account another point, one which can make a major difference. It’s a classic example of small things can make big differences…

A good friend of mine recently attended a gruelling high level industry interview. You know, one of those processes that take an entire day (but perhaps feels longer!). This was for a post with a 6 figure package, and benefits to die for. The interview process involved presentations, panel interviews, tour of company premises (by the way, however well you may know the building where your interview is to be conducted, never refuse the invitation to have a guided tour. The information you will pick up during this more informal stage of the interview process can be invaluable during the interview itself, and is a prime opportunity to find out what issues staff are facing, things that need addressing etc.), and to top it all off my friend then gave a speech to the assembled staff – scary stuff (but all part of the process)!
