Random Acts of Awesomeness : Day 1 of #FreshThinkers
Awesome! If there was one word on the lips of most attendees on Day 1 of the Fresh Thinking Series then that was it. From the adrenalin rush of watching and listening to co-presenters Amanda Hite and Scott Stratten to the non-stop flow of ideas and observations with which they wowed the audience, there was a real sense of excitement and a desire to learn and put this new thinking into practice.
Three points stood out from the first day:
- People spread Awesomeness, they don’t spread the mediocre! It’s the awesome that inspires people to talk about your brand, or to share your output…both the awesomely good and the awesomely bad! Clearly the bad isn’t necessarily good, so the key is to give an awesome experience, provide awesome content and get people talking about you. ! More important than SEO and more vital than prize winning writing was the need to make sure that your content has the real X Factor.
- A social media problem is never one! It’s a real life problem, so fix the offline problem. True of so many scenarios, especially the concerns over giving employees access to social media. If they use it post negative comments then the problem isn’t social media. It’s engagement.
- All success online starts offline! Social media doesn’t really change anything – if your service ‘sucks’ then it just ‘sucks harder’ in social media. Focus on fixing your brand, your experience and your employee engagement before expecting online success.
If that’s whetted your appetite then you need to get involved in Day 2! If you aren’t coming along to the London sessions the here’s how to get to be part of the conversation:
The #FreshThinkers channel on Twitter was buzzing all day with many people, who were not able to be at the event, joining in and contributing comments. If you can’t make Day 2 then you should really check it out.
