CAD Practice Leader
My client is a management, engineering and development consultancy with 14,500 staff serving both the public and private sectors around the world.
They have an annual turnover of over £700 million and were listed in the UK's Sunday Times 'Best Companies to Work For'.
Their Group Systems Division based at their HQ in Croydon is looking for a CAD Practice Leader for a new team, IT for Projects (IT4P). This team has been formed to address project IT needs in a common way across their global organisation.
IT4P is part of the Global IT team and is an interface between project delivery and the services provided by IT (eg WAN, ERP software, Intranet, email).
Reporting to the IT4P principal consultant and as central 'expert' on CAD technologies, the CAD Practice Leader is a new role responsible for coordination of my clients' CAD activities.
The CAD Practice Leader will:
- Establish and maintain global in-house CAD standards, to include establishing appropriate training for the standards and providing standard configuration/content for AutoCAD and Microstation (in a Bentley ProjectWise environment);
- Establish a Global CAD Champion Network and CAD steering Groups to cover business needs across all MM Regions;
- Maintain a knowledge centre on client/contractor CAD standards and their development;
- Identify business needs for global licensing of CAD software;
- Maintain in-house CAD discussion group;
- Establish mechanism for global CAD libraries (to be adaptable for software beyond AutoCAD and Microstation);
- Provide specialist advice to my clients' projects on implementation of CAD;
- Identify future MM needs for CAD software, standards and resources;
- There will be a need to travel within the UK and overseas on short-term visits.
It is essential that candidates have experience of the production and management of CAD data in a multi-disciplinary environment and the following:
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microstation software;
- Customer focus/people skills;
- Self-starter and proactive approach.
It would also be desirable to be Degree qualified in an appropriate engineering or scientific subject and also:-
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write professional reports for review and consideration by senior staff;
- Team working;
- Quick learner and ability to work in a fast paced environment.
