CAD Design Technician

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for the production of drawings and support documentation for the project assigned ensuring compliance with quality and technical standards.
Use of Autodesk Inventor and/or AutoCAD drawing packages to create general arrangement, detail and manufacturing drawings and Microsoft Office to produce associated support documentation under the direct supervision of the Design Manager.
To work closely and liaise with a Quality Control authority and client representatives in maintaining the production quality and in achieving scheduled production dates based on the clients requirements.
To maintain a high level of quality assurance in all works carried out and to ensure compliance to the design and security regulations specified for this work.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
*HNC/HND or similar qualification.
*Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2000, AutoCAD LT or other AutoCAD version
*Computer literate (knowledge of Word & Excel are essential)
*Excellent problem solving, communication and negotiation skills are required to manage relationships with the vendors/contractors and other departments.
*Attention to detail and the ability to apply logic and best working practice.
*An understanding of best Health & Safety practice.

KEY DUTIES:
*Production of design detail and assembly drawings using Autodesk Inventor or other CAD drawing packages to client requirements and working to the scheduled delivery dates.
*Provide drafting and detail support to the Design Engineer, Quality Control, Design Manager and client representatives as appropriate.
*Comply with, and propose where required, standard design practices, best office practice and procedures.
*Coordinates the design production with the schedule established for the project.
*Assisting the Engineering and Quality Control departments in the supply, revision, and document control of engineering designs.
*Responsible to ensure that the design work is suitable for manufacture.
*Produce design manufacturing drawings compliant to the following documents:
*British Standards as instructed.

*To work to the guidelines and instructions specified by the client via the Design Manager
*To make yourself available to attend meetings in order to supply drawing support to the Design Manager and Quality Control.
