CAD Designer

Our client, a major automotive supplier requires a CAD Designer.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: Primary goals: The Department is directly responsible for the development and design of wire harness distribution systems in line with the customer's requirements. This can be broken down into the following; The production of the physical routing of the EDS system on 3D CAD and the production of the 2D wire harness drawings and installation sketches which are used to make the actual harness. The Design & Development department strive to meet and exceed customer requirements thereby helping to maintain current business and generate new business.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF ROLE: To design wire Harness within a 3D CAD environment, working within the full vehicle data model, utilising I-DEAS 3D CAD tools. To establish best design solutions before implementation of these in the 3D CAD model with developmental engineers, Prepare wire harness drawings utilising manual and automated data transfer tools for conversion of 3D model data and electrical circuitry into wire harness manufacturing drawings. Design change implementation control including verification of accuracy of inputted data (2d, 3d or other). Follow TS16494 process and procedure for data management and work process. Provide support for general development activity.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Education & Qualifications: Engineering Degree or equivalent.
Experience: Automotive 3D design experience, I-DEAS and Catia V5.
Functional knowledge and skills: Wire Harness drawing experience is advantageous.
Behavioural competencies: Good communicator with high degree of self-motivation and self-confidence. Able to work as part of close team in high stress situations.
