Mechanical Designer, Draughtsman, Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineers / Draughtsman / Mechanical Designers / Design Engineers are required to work on-site at a MoD Nuclear Establishment based in Berkshire.

Location: Berkshire
Salay: Up to £32per hour LTD, depending on experience

Role Description
Realisation of Precision Mechanisms for the Project.

Key Accountabilities
* Providing design solutions to a performance requirement based on the precise positioning of devices.
* Technical evaluation of suppliers' ability to:
- Evolve a conceptual design solution and produce detail designs/manufacturing drawings
- Validate detailed design solutions prior to manufacture
- Manufacture and assemble components parts
- Verify assemblies meet specification

Key Responsibilites
* Developing conceptual design solutions using a solid modelling CAD system.
* Documenting technical requirements for the purpose of placing design and build contracts.
* Evaluating potential suppliers technical capability to undertake a contract.
* Producing detailed manufacturing drawings, for 'make to print' contracts.
* Identifying the design solution boundaries and the management of the resulting interfaces.
* Assisting users to define their expectations with regard to the design solution.
* Reconciling any conflicts between user expectations and what is considered practical/affordable.
* Assist in gathering of information used in the management and reporting of progress against the Project Plan

Qualifications
* HNC/D in relevant engineering subject (e.g. mechanical sciences, production engineering)
* Degree in relevant engineering subject desirable

Knowledge
* Parametric solid modelling, ideally Unigraphics NX (UGNX) or SolidEdge, SolidWorks.

All candidates must hold a valid 10-year British Passport.
