      Beechwood Court is a lovely secluded house with a friendly, family atmosphere set in 9 acres of woodland on the lower slopes of beautiful Conwy Mountain.

      Ideal for Church and family holidays; youth groups and schools; individual breaks and retreats, Beechwood Court can accommodate around 60 guests and has 3 lounges, an outdoor multi-sports court, children's play area and bonfire and BBQ facilities.

      We currently have a vacancy for a COOK

      Duties and responsibilities:

      • Assist the Centre Managers with the preparation of menus

      • Prepare and cook meals, bake cakes etc. in accordance with menus and the requirements of the Centre Managers, maintaining quality and standards as high as possible within the financial constraints

      • Complete forms and weekly returns required by legislation and as directed by the Centre Managers, for recording cooked food temperatures and refrigerator and freezer temperatures

      • Supervision of junior kitchen staff, ensuring they are adequately trained and instructed so as to work effectively and efficiently

      • Notify on a timely basis all requirements for all provisions used in the kitchen, including calor gas, to the person who places orders, so that adequate notice is given for the order to be placed and provisions to be delivered in time for when they are needed

      • Receive and properly store provisions into the pantry (although this area is primarily the responsibility of pantry staff) and into the freezers, after properly recording details and temperatures onto forms and weekly returns required by legislation and as directed by the Centre Managers

      • Use provisions, and carry out processes, efficiently, minimising waste and aiming to achieve optimum cost effectiveness, whilst not permitting standards to be reduced

      • Supervise the kitchen area, which includes the kitchen itself, washup room (when in use to wash kitchen equipment and utensils), potato preparation area, freezer storage room and interconnecting corridors, ensuring a high standard of health and safety, cleanliness and hygiene is maintained throughout. This involves correctly completing weekly forms and returns as required by legislation and as directed by the Centre Managers

      • Maintain all kitchen equipment and utensils, ensuring that all are kept clean and in good order, and are washed properly as soon as possible after use

      • Report promptly to the Centre Managers all damage to, and failure of, kitchen equipment, and any other requirements for new or replacement equipment so that the kitchen is always adequately equipped

      • In liaison with the Centre Managers, ensure that your own, and kitchen staff, food hygiene certificates are kept up to date

      • Make recommendations to the Centre Managers of anything that you believe will improve standards, efficiency or cost-effectiveness, and overall will enhance the service we provide to guests

      • Such other duties as may be required from time to time and which are compatible with the position
