My client are a globally recognised brand who are looking for a junior buyer to join their procurement division based in Brighton.
The role of Operations Buyer within site operations is to act as a point of contact for the site's assigned supplier and provide an interface for the operational teams across sites. The Operations buyer would be responsible for all aspects of suppliers' performance and for managing communication to nominated suppliers (forecast, orders, and business information) the job demands an awareness of commercial issues, supply management and an absolute understanding of the importance of personal integrity and professionalism in negotiations and discussions with suppliers.

Salary - £20 - 25k dependant on experience
The role of the junior buyer will be -
Develop, implement and drive plans to improve supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost) across sites for their assigned suppliers
Identify risks to supply continuity and develop and implement plans to mitigate these risks.
Organise regular business reviews with key suppliers and act as point of communications with nominated vendors on behalf of all sites and functions
Manage communication to vendors (planning, business reviews, buffer stocking, and overdues feedback) to improve supplier performance and feedback to operations.
Reduce critical supplier lead-times to improve flexibility and responsiveness.
Maintain supply continuity to manufacturing cells from external suppliers.
Ensure continuity of supply stock (direct spend) items and that supplier lates are proactively progressed to avoid production shortages
Diagnose causes of supply interruptions and report reasons to drive continuous improvement and elimination of root causes Develop and implement cost reduction projects under direction of the Purchasing Team Leader within the scope of existing supply (including renegotiation, value engineering, supplier development, and resourcing and supplier rationalisation/aggregation).Ensure that the transition to production of new products is achieved with minimum lead-time, minimum disruption and minimum obsolescence.
Ensure that supply contract provisions are executed appropriately.
Ensuring that appropriate purchase order coverage is maintained with nominated suppliers in line with procurement plans and policies
The ideal candidate for the junior buyer will have the following experience -
Ideally a minimum of 1 years' experience in a responsible buying role (particularly in a manufacturing or engineering organisation would be an advantage)
Degree in procurement or a supply chain or similiar business related degree
