Forget Pay Rises, it’s our 9-to-5 Buddies that Make us Happy at Work!

If you work an average 40 hours a week then you’re likely to spend as much time at work as you do with families and partners – so it’s hardly surprising that 70% of us say that getting on with our colleagues is the number one reason for being happy at work!

We recently did some research to find out what’s most important for workplace happiness and these were the top 10:

  1. Working with people I get on with
  2. Feeling valued
  3. Good money
  4. Good hours
  5. Good holiday and benefits
  6. A boss who I get on well with
  7. Low day-to-day stress
  8. Decent commute
  9. Productive work environment
  10. Workplace location

We also found out that:

  • Two thirds of people would turn down a job offer with pay-rise to stay working with people they liked and respected
  • Men are less concerned with getting on with colleagues than women are
  • 65% say being happy at work makes them more productive in their job

In recognition of this passion for our workmates we are searching for the UKs best ‘9-to-5 Buddies’ in a social media photo competition…there will be prizes for the most imaginative pictures! You can win £250 to spend on drinks for your buddies!

It might be the person who sits next to you, but then we also want to celebrate the people who make the 9 to 5 work routine that bit more pleasurable, so it could be someone you meet every day on the train, the recruiter who has helped you get that next job, or the customers who brighten up your day.

Find out more, including how to enter, on our dedicated ‘9-to-5 buddies’ page…and grab your camera/phone and start snapping!
