      Junior Software Developer - AgriTech - £23-30K

      The Developer Role

      Key Responsibilities

      Junior Software Developers fully contribute as members of an agile development team, building highly available global systems.

      Along with having strong technical capabilities, team members work with others in an open and collaborative way to create innovative solutions.

      Our software developer team participate in the full development lifecycle, utilising problem solving in a high-performance environment to create full stack solutions to complex problems. As a Junior Software Developer you will have the opportunity to use many technologies including Angular, Spring Microservices, Docker, Camel ESB, Python, PostgreSQL, GDAL and an assortment of AWS offerings; creating dynamic, scalable lightweight microservices.

      In addition to our existing stack, you will have the opportunity to evaluate and provide alternate solutions to technological problems.

      Duties and Responsibilities include

      • Working in an agile team to build, test and support web and mobile based applications.
      • Assist in the collection of requirements, breaking down tasks and producing effort estimates.
      • Preparing documentation on usage and maintenance of developed features.
      • Work with the team with ongoing evaluation and improvements to the product delivery lifecycle, as part of an agile process.

      The Individual

      A candidate should have experience with at least one of the following

      • Demonstrable understanding of C# or Java
      • Demonstrable understanding of Spring MVC
      • Demonstrable understanding of Databases and SQL
      • Ability to read and understand Python
      • Exposure to web development using HTML5, CSS and JavaScript
      • Familiarity with version control concepts

      Experience with some of the following is desirable

      • Understanding of Java 8 concepts
      • Exposure to Spring Boot and microservices
      • Exposure to Angular
      • Understanding of GIS and spatial data
      • Knowledge of unit testing theory
      • Understanding of mock testing frameworks
      • Continuous delivery/deployment/integration
      • Would be an advantage to have worked as an agile team member.

      • Confidence to express or present ideas for solutions and improvements, for products and processes.
      • Be comfortable with raising issues and problems in a timely manner and work easily with others to resolve them.
      • Presenting ideas for system improvements, including cost proposals.
      • Being able to give and receive constructive feedback to be able to improve own and team performance.
      • Having a positive and energetic approach towards challenging problems and situations
